Today is Monday. Today is the 10th anniversary of my middle daughter Mo time here on the planet. I wish you could know her. She is a hoot of a child. Mo is very special girl.
Mo is just a little weird-marching to a different drum than the rest. I try and assure her that it is ok to be this way-that momma was too when she was her age. It makes her interesting. One of the other girls said ” Momma-she is not marching to a different drum-she is in a whole other band.” But that is ok, I tell her, you are “uniquely and wonderfully made.”
The child has never ever taken a bad picture. When you hear someone say ” the camera loves her” I understand that now. She is beautiful. Breathtaking. But you have to get her to be still and look at those beautiful brown eyes, that olive smooth skin, that butterscotch hair to get the whole picture. She is always in motion-except when she is not-and only then do you see just how gorgeous she is.
When she is not in motion, she is drawing or writing or creating something. A lot goes on in the little girl’s head. Just like momma. She in smart but doesn’t realize yet how blessed with smartness she really is.
Mo can pray like nobody’s business. She talks to God and in her infinite childlike faith says to Him “your will be done.”
She likes to go hunting with her dad. She likes to catch the dogs-she considers herself to be an expert dog catcher and takes great pride in that.
Mo has no idea what she wants to be when she grows up. If you ask her that question today she would answer she wants to be a chef. I have had no clear direction on this matter either. She is all over the map.
But for right now, she is 10. She is beautiful-tenderhearted-loving-creative-funny-unique-and one of the greatest blessings of my life.
